Surfing

Surfing sports form a significant part in the daily life in Tenerife. Many people here practise this exciting sport from a very young age even up to their 50s and 60s. That’s not surprising, because the combination of the strong Atlantic Ocean and Mt. Teide with its protection against nordic trade winds delivers clean surf conditions in many parts of the island 365 days per year. There are adequate spots for amateurs as well as professional surfers and even competitions. Of course not to forget El Médano, the Mecca for kite- and windsurfing, many times host of the World Windsurf Championships. Close to our school you can find the following surf spots, where you can hang loose on a surfboard by yourself or observe pro surfers doing it:

  • Playa de las Américas (Spanish left, Billboards, La Fitenia)
  • Punta Blanca (K16)
  • El Confital close to Los Abrigos and La Tejita
  • The beach of Las Galletas
  • El Médano (for kitesurfing and windsurfing)
